During Eris Harlowe's writing sessions between Hymni Abyssi and its then-untitled successor, the Ghosts demo EP was born, targeting a more familiar sound of rock as opposed to Harlowe's black metal. Unlike the writing of Hymni Abyssi which stretched over several months, Ghosts was written relatively quickly, with far more emphasis on speed and warmth of sound than atmospherics, forming an execution of blistering instrumental hard rock beginning with 'My Better Half', a wall of power chords and aggressive drumming, which is succeeded effortlessly by a progression through percussion and power in 'Between The Darks', before launching finally into the chaos of 'Threes'.
